We said farewell to Forbes yesterday. Good company and tolerant of our spare room. We hope that he had a wonderful time during his stay in Egypt. He certainly packed a lot in. He spent a few days in Luxor and came with us to the White Desert. He then visited Saqqara and Giza, the Egyptian Museum and Khan El-Khalili. One highlight for us was seeing the Qalaoun al Nasir Baruq complex at night, the breathtaking  200 m facade, portrayed in old paintings by David Roberts, beautifully illuminated. Badly damaged in the 1992 earthquake the buildings have been undergoing endless restoration but we were thrilled to be allowed access to the Mausoleum. Incredible architecture. Amazing to think the building was completed in 13 months.

Then a felucca sail on his last night with us. Thanks for sharing Eid el Adha with us Forbes.
