Sharm Half

A fortnight ago me and a few colleagues from school ran the Sharm El-Sheikh half marathon. We were looking forward to warming weather and a run on roads skirting the Red Sea with some challenging hills. The weather proved pleasant but very blustery. There was also nowhere to hide as there were only 40 runners competing. The run proved to be a bit disappointing  and lonely as the field spread out. It was a run to one resort complex to another, long straights and hills into the wind, and we did not catch sight of the sea until we crossed the finish. Good weekend but I will not be running this one again.  After the summer there is a wonderful few months of running here in Egypt, starting with the Cleopatra Run in Alexandria (in October) and a very self-indulgent trip to Petra in September. I hope to run at the Nairn Games in August.
