Lovely Visitors from Dublin

Filed under: visits — scotsabroad @ 3:27 pm

Missing their connecting flight in Amsterdam meant that Ali and Vero didn’t arrive in sunny Cairo until Wednesday but they are here now and we are having a very enjoyable time together. They are such easy company and are great with Cairo and Lucas; even in the 42 degree heat of Giza Pyramids yesterday they kept up the banter with the boys.

So far we have taken them to Katameya for some serious sunbathing, entertained them with the key stage 2 production of ‘James and the Giant Peach’, dined al fresco on the roof of the Nile Hilton and, of course, toured the pyramids and the Sphinx. On Thursday night Andy and I had our staff night out so Ali accompanied Lucas to his swimming lesson on Thursday afternoon and Vero took Lucas to his friend’s birthday party – freeing me and Andy to get ready without too much stress. It is so lovely to have two extra pairs of hands. After the heat of Giza yesterday we all went to the pool and both boys had great fun being taught various diving techniques by Vero and Ali. Andy and I did nothing!

Today they are being given the Alexandria tour by Cairo – the three of them left this morning at 7am in Naser’s bus – so we have spent a great day with Lucas being completely charming whilst we shopped for presents in Citystars this morning and swimming like a fish this afternoon. Hopefully we can encourage either Ali or Vero to blog about their day with Cairo.

We were delighted to hear that Jamie and his partner have had a baby girl – even though the boys were disappointed to have ‘ANOTHER’ girl cousin! Meg sent us some photos in which Jasmine looks gorgeous and Jamie delighted. Congratulations.
